US carriers only deliver business texts from businesses they have checked. This is called A2P 10DLC registration, and every business that texts customers needs it. You fill in one form; IntakeNexus files it with the carriers for you and the page shows its progress.

Before You Start

Have ready

  • If your business has an EIN (federal tax ID): your legal business name exactly as on your IRS letter (CP 575 or 147C), the EIN, your business address, and a contact person’s name, email and phone
  • If you are a sole proprietor without an EIN: your name, a business name, your address, your email, and your personal mobile phone
  • Optional: your website, or your Google or Facebook business page

1. Fill In the Form

1

Open the texting page

Go to Settings › Channels › Turn on texting, or select Turn on texting on the Setup Checklist or in Settings › Channels.

Result: The form opens on Who is registering?

2

Choose who is registering

Select My business has an EIN or I’m a sole proprietor without an EIN. Select Next.

Result: The Details step shows the boxes for your choice.

3

Enter your details

Fill in every box. Use a street address, not a PO box. A sole proprietor’s personal mobile must not be the business number IntakeNexus gave you. Select Next.

Result: Review & certify shows what will be filed, the sample texts, and your public text message terms.

4

Certify and submit

Check the summary. Select Edit beside anything that is wrong. Tick the certification box, then select Submit for carrier review.

Result: The badge reads Filed, then Waiting on carrier. The page updates itself.

2. Confirm the Code (Sole Proprietors Only)

When the carriers accept a sole proprietor, they text a short confirmation code to the personal mobile you entered. The badge reads Action needed.

1

Reply to the text

On your personal mobile, reply to the carriers’ text as it asks, within 24 hours.

Result: The badge moves on to Waiting on carrier or Texting on.

2

Ask for a new code if needed

If the text never came or expired, select Text me a new code on Settings › Channels › Turn on texting. You can do this up to three times a day.

Result: A new text arrives on your mobile.

3. If the Carriers Ask for Changes

1

Read the reason

The badge reads Needs changes. The page says what the carriers objected to.

Result: You know which details to correct.

2

Edit and resubmit

Select Edit & resubmit. The form opens with your saved details; the boxes the carriers flagged are marked. Correct them, certify again and submit.

Result: The badge reads Filed again. A new row appears in Filing history.
